2019 Jeep Wrangler vs 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Serving Beckley, WV

When Jeep redesigned its most iconic SUV for the 2018 model year, drivers and critics alike heaped on the accolades. For the 2019 model year, Jeep is sprucing up this best-in-class adventurer with extra safety and performance features. What exactly is the difference between these two great model years? Check out our comparison guide for more details.

Performance

Both the 2018 and 2019 Jeep Wrangler come standard with the same engine – a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but drivers can always oft for the optional eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is standard on every Wrangler to maximize off-road adventure.

There is also an optional engine that boosts output to 270 horses and 295 pound-feet of torque. This turbocharged four-cylinder engine was available late in the 2018 model year and throughout the 2019 model year, which may make it easier to find on more recent Wranglers. The turbocharged engine utilizes a mild-hybrid eTorque system, and it's only available with the eight-speed automatic transmission.

Appearance

Both the 2018 and 2019 Jeep Wrangler are easy to recognize on the road, thanks to their trademark SUV style. There’s nothing else quite like the Wrangler, with its rugged stance and trademark Jeep grille and front-end design. There weren’t any styling changes between these two model years, so you'll be hard-pressed to tell them apart. Different Wrangler trim models do sport different looks, however. The Wrangler Moab, for example, adds exclusive badging, a front steel bumper, and black-painted exterior trim.

Features

For 2019, the Jeep Wrangler added some new features to its lineup. Adaptive cruise control, which can slow down or speed up according to traffic flow, became an option. Forward collision warning also became an option. This safety aid warns you of an oncoming collision so that you can hit the brakes accordingly.

Otherwise, the two Jeep Wranglers feature identical lineups. Choose from five trim levels: the Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Moab, and Rubicon. Shoppers should note that the Sahara and Moab are only available with the four-door Unlimited body style. Otherwise, shoppers get to choose between the classic two-door and Unlimited bodies.

These days, the Wrangler can be as luxurious as you want it to be. Every comfort and convenience is on offer, from stylish leather upholstery to heated power mirrors. You can even add Jeep’s high-tech infotainment system, Uconnect. It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can interact with your smartphone without actually ever looking away from the road.
